Scott Ross started his career in 1988 as a general manager at Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) one of the pioneers of computer-generated visual effects. In 1993 he co-founded Digital Domain, another industry leader, with James Cameron and Stan Winston. These days Ross produces films, teaches, and advocates for the creation of a VFX trade association. Here he recounts the origins of Digital Domain, the challenges that confront VFX shops, and the prospects for industry reform.
