The Ethiopian Orthodox calendar regulates every aspect of religious life in Zege. This chapter shows how calendrical rhythms of fasting and feasting serve to tie individual bodies into an overarching, highly structured ritual scheme. The calendar is so pervasive that, when people wish to show dissidence, it is often by means of minor deviations from calendrical orthodoxy.
